9 weeks and Dr appt

We had Henry's 2 month check up today - he's all good!

He weighs 14 lbs 2 oz ~ which is in the 89 percentile (as per http://www.infantchart.com/ )
His length is 24.5 inches ~ which is in the 88th percentile
And his head circumference is 16 inches ~ 60th percentile (big boy, normal head)

A lot of his outfits that he's wearing are 6 month size now ... his legs don't fit in the 3 month. The onsie and pant outfits work best b/c the one piece outfits he just doesn't fill out - he's long enough for them, but swims in the belly region!

He also got his 3 shots - which he took like a champ! He cried for about a minute afterwords, nursed for about 2 minutes of fussiness, and then was back to smiling baby!! The nurses were great, there were two of them, one for each leg, and they were quick - thank goodness!

I think I cried more than he did :)




Only 5 weeks left of my maternity leave ... big sad face :(

8 weeks

Well what else is there to do at 4:40 am but to update my blog? :)

Henry is doing great - according to my scale he's up to 14lbs, and I measured him myself and he's about 25 inches now! (*edit* clearly my measurements are different from the doctors!!) My little two month old is filling out his 3 month clothes quickly. There have been several outfits that I've gotten out to put on him and say, "Well, we won't be wearing this but once!" His 2 month well baby appt isn't for a while, though I'm considering calling to move the appointment up so it's closer to him actually being 2 months instead of 3...

Now that he's getting closer to being 3 months - I'm trying to decide which sleep training method we want to use - if any. I'm not sure if I believe in it - and he seems to be setting his schedule on his own, but I am worried that if we don't atleast start putting him down by himself soon, he'll always want to be rocked to sleep. But I love rocking him! Plus - I think that'd also mean moving him into his own room, which I'm just not ready to do yet!

He loves to smile now - and I swear is becoming a little ham for the camera!!

Last night he teased me with another 6 hour sleep session ... if we can turn this into at least every other night - I will be happy!!

Parking Lot Poops...

Henry and I had a lovely day at the mall with Arianne and baby Bella today ... good exercise, great deals, and a happy baby.

No sooner then we pull out of the mall parking lot - Henry turned into Screaming Monster Baby. Seeing two cars sliding around on the Beltline - I knew it would not be a quick trip home. So, I pulled into a Calvin College parking lot so I could get into the back seat and nurse the screaming child (as I've had to do before). No big deal.

As he's calming down - I feel a little rumble in his diaper. I think, "Oh, that could have been the cause of the drama."

Then another rumble. But this rumble was much longer - and squishier sounding.

I think, "No way that all stayed in the diaper."

Sure enough -- poo all through the diaper, up the back, through the onsie (which was already his second of the day as he spit up all over me and himself at lunch), and onto mommy's jeans.

Now --- what to do? Place poo boy into car seat and drive 45 minutes home? Take him inside this random college building and look for a bathroom to clean up? Neither seemed plausable - so I just laid him on the backseat - and stood myself outside while changing the freezing boy - snow falling on me.

Exhaustion sets in - we start the snowy drive home again. Henry was quiet for a good 5 minutes - began screaming again - and then cried himself to sleep.

How's that for a good Poo Story to share with him when he gets older? Apparently shopping upsets him so much - he must show his vengance through his diaper.

Clearly beyond excited for Christmas!

My preppy little boy! :)

I'm a little behind on my updating!! Henry is 6 weeks today - and getting closer to sleeping through the night ... if you consider 5 hours of sleeping 'through the night'! :) The only downfall is that before this long stretch of sleep, he likes to cry and fuss for a couple of hours. Luckily, Nick usually takes that portion of the care, but it 's hard for him since he does have to get up in the morning.

All of our Christmas parties are finally over with! Henry did okay with the gatherings, but he has a hard time falling asleep with so much noise - then I get stressed. Everyone loves to try to help when he's crying - but I have a hard time watching him scream in someone else's arms. I'd just rather be the one dealing with it I guess.

If I go by my scale (me weighing myself, then stepping on while holding him) - he's over 12lbs now. We had to move up to size 2 diapers, and are wearing some 0-3 month and some 3 month clothes!
